The IPL season is ready to get under way from 19th September 2020 in UAE, and one question comes to everyone’s mind that is ‘Who will win this year’s IPL trophy?’ As anticipated Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will be the favourite as every year, they both are the most successful teams in this league with a total of 7 titles out of 12! Mumbai have won the cup 4 times (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) and Chennai with 3. (2010,2011,2018) But this year might be different as said by former English batsmen Kevin Pietersen. He predicts that IPL 2020 will not be won by MI or CSK, but by his former team Delhi Daredevils now known as Delhi Capitals. It is obvious that Kevin must have a soft corner for Delhi as he played for them. Delhi is one of three teams that haven’t touched the IPL trophy and this year with their strong squad which includes Shreyash Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajiinkya Rahane, Shimron Hetmyer and many more. The second team with no title but ready to fight hard is Kings XI Punjab who have the record of being captained by 12 captains! Will they clinch the title this year with KL Rahul as captain and Anil Kumble as mentor, stays a long awaited question in every punjabi’s mind. Their strengths comprise Chris Gayle, Captain Rahul, Mohammed Shami and Glenn Maxwell. Finally the team who is expected to win every year with the best player in the world on their side is ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGLORE!! Like every year RCB lacks in death year bowling and battling. They have big names in front like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers but no one to finish in the end if they get out soon. In bowling now can be trusted 100% during death overs as Chris Morris, Dale Steyn, Umesh Yadav and Mohommed Siraj are definitely not known as death bowlers. Let’s see if Banglore can do something special for their fans this year in UAE. Another team with a well built squad this season is Rajasthan Royals. Who certainly have the best foreign lineup with Steve Smith, Jos Butler, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Tom Curran on their side. Rajasthan is a team who haven’t laid their hands on the silverware since the opening season in 2008. With their balanced squad they can turn this year into something big!! Former Australian bowler Bret Lee has predicted MS Dhoni’s side to be the winner this year even without Raina and Harbhajan. He also mentioned Kolkata Knight Riders will be in the top 4. Lee is also a part of IPL coverage for the host broadcasters. 2020 is expected to be something different for IPL while it is conducted in UAE and moreover no one is sure of how a player will perform as no one knows their recent form because of the ongoing pandemic. Everyone awaits to see who the winner will be!!
