First Raina then Harbhajan, something is wrong with CSK!!

Another Blow for Chennai Super Kings on Thursday as veteran bowler Harbhajan Singh informs CSK’s management that he will miss the entire IPL 2020 season due to personal reasons. CSK’s CEO K.S Vishwanathan told, “He said his mother was old and he had personal reasons for not taking part.” Bhajji was expected to join the team on 1st Sept in UAE.

Harbhajan twitted, “Dear friends, I will not be playing in IPL this year due to personal reasons. These are difficult times and I would expect some privacy as I spend time with my family. @Chennai IPL CSK management has been extremely supportive and I wish them a great IPL. Stay safe and Jai Hind.”

As we witnessed another important player Suresh Raina left his team earlier because of personal reasons only. This creates a doubt in every fan’s mind that what is going on with Chennai?? Everyone understands that these are difficult times but why only CSK’s players are affected??

A possible reason for players to take such a decision, could be the saddening news of Chennai’s 13 members being COVID positive including bowler Deepak Chahar. But Harbhajan’s decision will surely be a problem for Dhoni and his side as he is immensely experienced and even in 40 years of age he has kept himself fit. Last season was wonderful for Bhajji Paji as he went on to take 16 wickets in 11 matches. Moreover, there is no off-spinner in CSK’s squad, except part-time bowler Kedar Jadhav.

Former India wicket-keeper batsman Deep Dasgupta believes CSK should choose all-rounder Jalaj Saxena as Harbhajan’s replacement. “I think Jalaj Saxena deserves a place, he’s a good enough all-rounder. I think they might look at him, he’s a very good option for Bhajji’s replacement.” Jalaj Saxena is an experienced Domestic player who was with Delhi Capitals last year.

It would be interesting to see whether the three-time champions can make it through this year without Raina and Harbhajan.
