Chennai Super King’s one of the key man Suresh Raina will miss the entire season this year because of his personal issues. As we saw his family in Pathankot were brutally attacked and his uncle died in that incident. It is also been told that Raina worried about his kids because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and hence he made his decision to come back to India from UAE.

Last week it was confirmed that 13 members of CSK have been tested COVID positive, which includes bowler Deepak Chahar. Hence in the first match of IPL, Mumbai Indians are expected to play against Royal Challengers Banglore instead of Chennai Super Kings.

Without their talismanic man, CSK may face some serious problems like:

Who will bat at number 3?

Suresh Raina is a feast for eyes in 20-20 and his experience could have helped his side to stabilize the middle order. He is the genius of playing under pressure which makes it easy for CSK to end games with Dhoni on the other side. But now without him, no one really can take that responsibility on their shoulders.

Ex Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir feels it is a good opportunity for captain Dhoni to come up and bat at no.3. This might be a big decision as Dhoni has not stepped on the field since the last world cup and has been away from practice for quite long.

Who will be the perfect match winner?

In 193 matches Suresh Raina has a tremendous record of 5368 runs and 25 wickets. No one is so much experienced in match-winning like Raina so here CSK might feel the absence of Raina. At some point, Raina can help his side to stop runs from his bowling also. Can Kedar Jadhav do the work this year?? It is expected that Yusuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwari, Dhruv Shorey, or Hanuma Vihari will replace his place. In this case, it will have to be a local player as overseas options are already filled. Let’s see who will the three-time champions pick to fill this large vacuum.

Who will take those safe catches and save those boundaries?

Everybody knows Suresh Raina is one of the best fielders currently, and a player with good fielding skills is always an icing on the cake. He puts his 100% effort in every catch he takes. He has the ability to judge the angle, speed, and elevation of the ball which makes him more dangerous on field. It’s really difficult to get away from his hands, and as they say, CATCHES WIN MATCHES!!

It will be really tough for Chennai to find a perfect match for Raina in batting, bowling, and fielding. Ultimately a serious question coming into every CSK Fan's mind, Will Dhoni and Co. turn the table without Raina.
